Women Parlor of Kothmale community Radio service
I'm Inrani Kumari mother of Dhanushka who is a member of children's corner of KCR. Once a week I visited Kothmale Radio station with my small son. While he is participating the children's radio program I used to idle my time. One of such occasions I met Mr. Sunil Wijesingha. Accidentally at that time I did not know his position here; nor did he reveal we had a friendly chat and he gave me the idea of forming a women parlor at KCR. Next week I gathered all the mothers who accompanied their young sons and daughters to the children's corner of the KCR.
It was 04th July 2001 we assembled in the parlor. To my surprise Mr. Sunil Wijesingha was also there. The parlor was opened and floods of women glided in the chamber with all their feminine grace. I explained to them the value of forming a women's parlor at KCR. All agreed with one accord I was selected secretary. A lady who is well acquaint with the offices of the station made proposal select Mr.Wijesingha as a pioneer. Then only I knew that he is the controller of the station. That is how we set the march.

Our maiden work was started and it was the setting up of surrounding about KCR station. The garden was

cleared and the beautiful plants, flowers and medicinal herbs were rained on the premises of kcr. With this feminine touch kcr became a warmly place to whom who has fortune to call on the KCR.
The controller appreciated our work and we were given chances to start a women's program at KCR. In that program we discussed about household chorus is which every mother has to participate. Through it with the Internet facilities we are able to give our listeners advanced current knowledge about our profession of mother hood and housewife ship.
In one of our radio discussions a mother phoned us and entreat us to do some thing to turn our leisure to a valuable work.

That was how we started self-employment scheme attached to our parlor of KCR. One of our mothers, Mrs. Abeykoon conducted series of programs on the air instructing to cultivate mushrooms, beautiful plants flowers and horticulture. Thanks to her and the KCR women's parlor purses of most of our members became heavier and heavier day-by-day. What a marvelous thing kcr women's parlor could do within these few months.
I'm proud to say we have an experiment plots in the garden of the kcr where any body is warmly welcome to study and inspect the place.
We hope to enlarge our activities through the Internet knowledge as well as share that you are going to give us in future. We hope that you may give your participation has without any hindrance to build global women's parlor centering the kothmale community radio.
